At today’s (08/19/20) weekly Press Conference, surprised many attendees, including The Coalition’s Pat Ford, by continuing to maintain ignorance? unfamiliarity? with money allocated by Federal Agency FEMA, for temporary unemployment assistance. At press, nearly 20 States had applied, with a least 9 receiving approval. Arizona, infamous for it’s threadbare Unemployment Insurance program has actually distributed the first payment, from these funds.
Why? Rhode Islanders, devastated financially by the State’s draconian shutdown, continue to look at the funds, as a temporary lifeline as they attempt to adjust to a post Covid reality. Could it be, as more than one wag has suggested, a reluctance to take assistance from The Trump Administration?
