In a strongly worded letter, members of the National Haitian American Elected Officials Network (NHAEON) reached out to American President Joe Biden & American Secretary of State Antony Blinken, to “to strongly oppose your Administration’s proposed international military intervention in Haiti.”

“If the U.S. is genuinely interested in stabilizing the political situation to avoid a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Haiti, it will start by ceasing to prop up the corrupt government and
allow the emergence of a consensus transitional government with the legitimacy to decide how the international community can contribute.”

On a local note, Cranston, Rhode Island City Councilwoman Aniece Germaine, a leader of the emerging Rhode Island Haitian American Community, is both a member of NHAEON, and a supporter of their anti military intervention stance.
