Members of Congress traditionally invite a guest to attend presidential speeches to Congress. This year, due to COVID-19 safety precautions, U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01) will host a virtual guest for President Biden’s Address to the Joint Session of Congress.
Kristina Contreras Fox of Smithfield will watch Wednesday night’s address remotely as Congressman Cicilline’s virtual guest. As an employee of the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless, Kristina works as an advocate for a community that the President has made a priority during his first 100 Days. An AmeriCorps alum, Kristina is looking forward to President Biden’s first address to Congress.

“We can’t build back better without addressing fundamental inequities in our laws & society: systemic racism and injustice,” said Contreras Fox. “It matters that the Biden administration, with the support of our Congressional delegation, have proposed and passed investments in key issues like housing and homelessness. I feel like we are getting back to the path of truly and really making things better: we can’t let up on that progress and we can’t leave anyone behind.”
“I’m honored that Kristina is my virtual guest for tonight,” said Cicilline. “President Biden inherited many challenges on the day he took office. Millions of Americans are still struggling. I know the President will speak tonight to his plans to build on the work we’ve done over the past 99 days and invest in the resources people need right now.”
Cicilline will attend tonight’s presidential address in Washington, D.C.
