From Emily Rizzo/The City of Pawtucket:
“Please see the following information you had requested regarding Morley Field which you can attribute to me:
The City of Pawtucket was made aware of contaminants present in soil at certain portions of Morley Field. These findings were the result of an environmental investigation completed by the business seeking to acquire this property subject to a site due diligence period.
Out of an abundance of caution, the City has assisted all organizations and permit holders who were using Morley Field to relocate to other fields within the city so that their outdoor activities may continue.
The group that is looking to purchase Morley Field would accept responsibility for required remediation of the site upon acquisition. If this transfer of ownership does not occur, the City would be responsible for this required remediation.”
