BLM RI PAC Statement on Buffalo Massacre
On the afternoon of May 14, 2022, 18-year-old white supremacist Payton Gendron carried out a racially motivated attack at Tops Market in Buffalo, New York, killing ten people and injuring three others. Of the victims, eleven of them were Black. The suspect detailed his white supremacist ideologies in a 180-page-manifesto often referencing the ‘Great Replacement Theory.’
The United States of America is built on white supremacy and the hatred of Black People–these ideas continue to plague the nation. ‘The Great Replacement Theory’ states that white Europeans are being replaced in America by non-white immigrants from Africa, the Middle East, and Latino countries, and the end result will be the extinction of the white race. This theory is supported by many right and far-right-wing politicians/news anchors in America–such as Tucker Carlson of FOX News, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and Representative Brian Babin of Texas, and Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida. This theory is also supported by Payton Gendron., the 18-year-old white supremacist who murdered ten people in cold blood. This dangerous ideology and others like it are being pushed by mainstream media outlets leading to the radicalization of white supremacists to commit violent acts. It is crucial we not only publicly condemn the spreading of such hatred but also that we hold those who seek to perpetuate the ideals of white supremacy and fascism accountable. BLM RI PAC condemns Tucker Carlson, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, Representative Brian Babin, Representative Matt Gaetz, and anyone else who intentionally propagates white supremacist ideology. We must say the names of the victims and carry on their legacy.

Geraldine Talley – 62, of Buffalo, New York
Aaron Salter – 55, who worked as a security guard at Tops Market, was shot and killed after confronting the shooter
