On Monday, Feb. 24, at 10:00 a.m. ET, U.S. Rep. Seth Magaziner (RI-02) will visit Wood River Health Services to meet with local health leaders and physicians to discuss the critical role community health centers play in Rhode Island and the devastating impact that proposed cuts to Medicaid would have on the ability of community health centers to deliver care to Rhode Islanders.
The visit comes as the U.S. House of Representatives prepares to vote on a budget proposal this week that includes major implications for Medicaid. The Republican budget resolution includes a minimum of $880 billion in cuts assigned to the Energy & Commerce Committee, which are expected to primarily come out of Medicaid, a key source of funding for Community Health Centers like Wood River Health. Community Health Centers are the primary providers of health care to 200,000 Rhode Islanders.
